Softball Kicks Off Final Weekend With Showdowns Against Bears, Valiants

NEW YORK - The Dolphins kicked off the final weekend of the regular season on Friday evening, with the first series featuring a showdown with St. Joseph's University Brooklyn out on Long Island. It was a rough two games against the Bears, as the Dolphins dropped both by the scores of 2-0 and 10-3.

The CMSV lineup was the victim of a strong pitching performance from the Bears. The team only put together four hits in the outing, with freshman Savannah Autobee leading the way with two of her own. Autobee also took the mound for the Dolphins and put together one of her best games of the season as the Pueblo, Colorado native allowed just two runs in seven strong innings.

The Bears offensive exploded for 10 runs in a cold and misty game two. The Dolphins did, however, have a balanced attack, as six of the nine starters picked up at least one hit.

CMSV looked to find their groove on Saturday, with the team traveling to Purchase to take on the undefeated Manhattanville Valiants. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the record of their opponents remains perfect. Despite dropping two, the Dolphins rebounded nicely after a rough 20-0 loss in game one.

Autobee put together her second gem of the weekend, regardless of the outcome. She one again allowed just a pair of runs in a complete game effort, lowering her season ERA to 4.48. Senior Jocelyn Vega had hits in both contests.

The Dolphins now set their sights on Old Westbury, who they take on in the final games of the regular season and with playoffs seeding on the line. The double header is set for Sunday evening at 5 PM.
