Yaphank, NY - The Dolphins baseball team was back in action today against the John Jay Bloodhounds after a two week hiatus.
John Muller's squad came in looking to even out their season record at 2-2 and that is exactly what they did. Winning game 1 in big fashion by a score of 17-1 and winning game two by a score of 7-0.
The Dolphins got off to a hot start, with ace Andrew Geiger striking out the side in the first. The bats came out even hotter in the first, scoring seven of their 17 runs in the opening frame. The Dolphins cruised to a victory after their first inning explosion with help from freshman outfield Danny Dinorcia going 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored. Dolphins Senior ace Andrew Geiger held the Bloodhounds bats at bay with a solid four innings to go along with his eight  strikeouts.
Sophomore backstop Jason Albert also joined in on the fun, going 2-for-3 with two hit by pitches, two RBI and two runs scored. The Dolphins bullpen was lights out today as well, with Joe Decandia, Will Granata and Ivan Navarro all combining for three shutout innings to seal the game one victory for the Dolphins.Â
In the second half of the doubleheader the Dolphins came out firing again, scoring early on thanks to an RBI walk by Joshua McCormick to get the Dolphins on the board early. Junior pitcher Sean Kennedy got the nod in game two of the doubleheader today and dominated the Bloodhounds all game. Kennedy went seven innings with four strikeouts while allowing zero runs and three hits in his second start of the season, building on his outing last time out.
Senior infielder Jake Pierre and freshman outfielder Danny Dinorcia added some pop to the Dolphins bats in the second game today, both hitting home runs to help propel the Dolphins to a victory. Pierre hit a three run homerun to cushion the Dolphins lead to 5-0 at the time, and Dinorcia's home run came in the bottom half of the 8th inning to give the Dolphins an even more comfortable 7-0 lead.
Junior pitcher Gio Zuena would close the game out for the Dolphins in his season debut, to give the Dolphins their second win of the day and evening out their season record to 2-2 ahead of their doubleheader tomorrow at Lasorda Legacy Park against the City College of New York Beavers.
