Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Dolphins Top Panthers, Improve To .500 On The Year

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team rebounded nicely on Thursday evening after dropping two games against Kean University and Hunter College over the weekend. The Dolphins took on Old Westbury, using a majority of the roster to defeat the Panthers by the scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-18.

CMSV opened the contest in impressive fashion. After trailing 2-1, the Dolphins rattled off eight straight points, highlighted by points from Tristen Hood, Samuel Martinez and Kevin Erhand. The early advantage carried the home team to a first set win after both sides traded points for the remainder of the set.

It was yet another close affair to start the second set. The Dolphins and Panthers went back and forth on the scoreboard up until the 19th point. At that time, head coach Matthew Johann's squad put together four straight points, inclduing a kill from Erhand. The team came back once again in the final set, with a six point run while up 17-14 being enough to put the Panthers away for good.

Junior James Rose had arguably his best game of the year, putting together a team best 11 kills, including seven in the final set. The Manorville, New York native also added five digs and two service aces. Senior leader Felix Paulino continued to climb the national rankings in digs and digs per set with 11 in the evening. Hood, Martinez, Kieran Howard and Ronny Lopez Jr. all combined for eight total blocks.

Next up for the Dolphins is a rematch against Kean University this coming Saturday. They'll compete in a tri-match against the Cougars and Misericordia University and will look to go over the .500 mark as March nears.
