Bronxville, NY - After a tough Skyline Conference loss to Mount Saint Mary College a week ago, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team reverted to their winning ways on Tuesday evening when they traveled to nearby Sarah Lawrence College and defeated the Gryphons by the score of 71-60. The victory, which saw impressive contributions from all over CMSV's roster, improved the team's overall record to 6-2 while also bringing their conference mark to 3-1 with the first half of the season nearing its end.
Sarah Lawrence - a team that held a 3-2 conference mark heading into Tuesday's action - went toe-to-toe with a strong Dolphins team in the first half. Trailing by just two at the conclusion of the first quarter,
Maria Nardulli's team turned things up on both ends of the floor, which resulted in a turning of the tide for the rest of the affair. The Dolphins shot 53% from the floor in the second quarter while forcing seven Gryphons turnovers, putting the team up 36-33 at the halfway point. Kira Villegas had an impressive evening for her team, leading the way in points (18), rebounds (11) and steals (three) while also adding three assists. Jackson, a former Skyline Player of the Week Jackson continued to build on her strong first season in Riverdale with a 13-point, five-assist, four-rebound, three-steal outing while Angeles led the second unit with 11 points and seven boards of her own.
