Box Score 2 New York, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team kicked off their week of play with a major Skyline Conference win over Yeshiva University, a team they battled for the final slot in the conference tournament a season ago. That game saw not one specific player stand out, but the unit as a whole put together one of the more dominant wins in recent memory. The Dolphins were looking to continue their undefeated start to the 2023-24 season on the road against John Jay, but the Bloodhounds were too tough to overcome, as CMSV lost by the score of 63-47.
John Jay paced the Dolphins in nearly all major statistical categories, as CMSV last led in the second quarter. Senior guard
Kayla Hanley had a standout performance offensively, leading the way with 11 points while shooting 50% from the floor. Graduate student
Kira Villegas stuffed the stat sheet as well, recording nine points, six boards, four steals and a block across 33 minutes of action. Transfers
Magan Jackson and
Ariella Johnson scored eight points apiece while
Kyla McLean added a pair of assists.
The Dolphins will look to right the ship this weekend in a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Medgar Evers College.
