Dolphins Downed By Hawks In Non-Conference Showdown

West Hartford, CT - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team took a break from Skyline play on Tuesday when they traveled out to Connecticut to complete their home and home series against the University of Hartford. After the first game was suspended due to lightning, the Dolphins dropped this one to the Hawks by the score of 2-1, bringing the team's 2023 record to 3-4-1.

The Hawks offense was on the attack for the majority of the 90 minutes. The home team took 25 total shots, including nine on goal, compared to eight CMSV attempts. Despite this, junior transfer Andrew Tarkazikis had a strong day in net, turning away seven of the nine shots he faced.

Despite scoring just one goal, it was one of firsts for the Dolphins. Defender Donovan Speer scored the first goal of his collegiate career when the sophomore put one past Hartford;'s keeper to tie things up at the 32 minute mark in the first half. Freshman midfielder Sebastian Mesa's pass to Speer resulted in the first assist of his young career.

With the loss behind them, the Dolphins will now welcome the United States Merchant Marine Academy to campus on Thursday night.
