Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Dolphins Secure Fourth Straight Skyline Win Over Maritime

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's playoff push rolled into Tuesday evening, and the women's volleyball program was able to keep their postseason aspirations alive. The Dolphins swept Maritime College in consecutive sets, securing their fourth straight conference victory while improving their Skyline record to 5-4. The win also brought their record to an even .500 on the season (9-9).

The game, however, didn't come easy. The Privateers and Dolphins traded points throughout the first set, with Maritime's lead coming as late as 21-20. CMSV, however, was able to string together strong rallies to close out the set, with Melanieann Broderick and Brianna Ayuso both picking up kills over the final three points.

It was once again a close affair in the second set, but a four point swing with the set tied at 15 was able to get the team over the hump. It was there where Reilly Nichtern impressed, as the sophomore hitter picked up three service aces over that span. The third set was all but a formality. The Dolphins were firing on all cylinders against the Privateers, as they went up by as many as 11 points to finish it out. The offensive love was spread all around the court, with Broderick, Ayuso, Nichtern, Adelina Elezaj, Jocelyn Castro, Dominique Otranto and Isabella Garcia all earned at least one kill.

Elezaj impressed throughout the evening, as the first-year student athlete paced the Dolphins with 10 kills. Ayuso was once again in the setter role and recorded a game-best 22 helpers, with her five service aces also pacing the team. Castro added both a solo and assisted block to her stat line as she continues to sit atop the Skyline Conference in that category while Garcia returned to her libero role and picked up 12 digs.

The team's playoff aspirations roll into Thursday, when the team takes on the United States Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point.
