Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hard Fought Battle Leads To Tie Between Dolphins, Rams

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team competed in their best game to date on Thursday afternoon, playing host to Farmingdale State College in a game that could be a future matchup come Skyline Conference playoffs time. The Dolphins jumped out to an early one goal lead, but a Rams goal in traffic led to the game being knotted up, with the final result sitting at 1-1. Despite the score, CMSV impressed against one of the top teams in the conference, boding well for a squad with high aspirations in the coming weeks.

The game as as physical as you'd expect, with both sides combining for 28 fouls and the Dolphins accounting for 10 of them. It worked in CMSV's favor, as midfielder Jason Otiniano, who had a big part in the physical played, scored his second goal of 2023 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the half.

The Dolphins kept the pressure up, as they were firmly in control of the time of possession battle while taking eight shots compared to four from the Rams in the second half. One of their lone opportunities, however, worked in Farmingdale's favor, as a shot from far outside the box was rebounded right to a Rams striker to tie things up at one. The Dolphins continued to press, with multiple free kick opportunities in the waning minutes of action, but the team wasn't able to convert. The result moved the Dolphins to 4-2-3 against the Skyline, good for fifth overall.

Joel Luna had a strong day in net, making two saves on three shots while continiously flipping the field on his team's behalf.

The Dolphins are right back at it next week when they wrap up the regular season against Mount Saint Mary College,
