Newburgh, NY - After a tough loss to Rowan University over the weekend, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team returned to action, this time taking on Mount Saint Mary College for their second Skyline Conference game this season. Both team battled back and forth over 90 minutes of action, with the contest ending in a tie with one goal apiece. The result gives CMSV a 3-2-1 record through six games thus far.
It didn't take long for the Dolphins to get on the board. With just 11 minutes taken off the clock in the first half, standout sophomore
Carlos Romero was awarded a penalty shot attempt. The reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and the championship game's Most Outstanding Player took advantage of the free kick and converted the shot, good for his third goal this season. Mount Saint Mary, however, kept the pressure on the Dolphins. The Knights took 10 total shots in the first half, with their last one at the 40 minute mark getting past goaltender
Joel Luna to make it a 1-1 game.
From there, it was an even affair. The Dolphins and Knights took eight shots each with one corner apiece, none of which found the back of the net.
Luna finished the contest with four saves while junior
Ian Lamas took a team-high five shots.
Conference play rolls on for the Dolphins, this time in the form of Manhattanville College, a rematch of the Skyline finals from a year ago. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM this coming Saturday.
