Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins took Marillac Field for the first time this season, closing out the 2022 campaign in a battle against Manhattanville College. The Dolphins battled throughout the four quarters of action but ultimately fell to the Valiants by the score of 12-7.
Despite Manhattanville's best attempts to run away with the game, head coach
James Fitzgerald put together a motivated effort, as the Dolphins consistently clawed back, keeping things close. After falling behind 3-0 in the early goings in the second, CMSV rattled off a pair of goals to make it a one goal game. Things started with sophomore
Jacob Cochran, who converted a tough shot off a pass from senior Nagy. The script was flipped just minutes later, as Cochran did the favors for Nagy, making it a 3-2 contest.
The Valiants would convert another shot before Cochran did it all by himself, as he took the ball from the midfield and used his speed to cut the deficit to one. While Manhattanville would three shots in in a row, Nagy took a beautiful pass from goaltender
Sawyer Davis to the house, giving him his second goal of the game and Davis his first career helper. Nagy,
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns and
Joseph Santana would get the Dolphins on the board, but the Valiants would close things out as time expired.
Despite the loss, there is a lot to look forward to for the men's lacrosse program. Fitzgerald and the Dolphins will look to usher in a new era of CMSV lacrosse with a strong batch of returners and a large incoming recruiting class.
