Senior Day Dominance Propels Dolphins Over Gryphons

Yonkers, NY - On the day the CMSV softball team honored their graduating class, they went on to win their first Skyline Conference games of the year as they swept Sarah Lawrence College by the scores of 11-1 and 10-0. Abigail Laurendeau, Lakisha Camacho, Renee Hoerning, Kimberly Medina-Ocasio and Arianna Rentas were all honored in a pregame ceremony at Mary Levine Field.

After the Gryphons plated a run in the bottom of the first inning, it was all Dolphins. Camacho and Kaitlin Cirillo drove home runs in the top of the second inning, with Hoerning, Cirillo and freshman Sierro Romero adding RBI to the stat sheet in the top half of the fifth. From there, Laurendeau, Camacho, Aimee Vega and Kelly Murphy combined to drive in five runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach for good. Medina-Ocasio dominated in the senior day start, allowing just three hits while striking out seven in a complete game performance.

The second game started out as a close affair. After junior Katie Hutter reached on an error which scored a run in the first, the game would stay 1-0 until the fifth inning, which was when CMSV would ramp up their offense once again. The Dolphins would score six runs that inning, which included two RBI doubles from both Laurendeau and Romero. Three more would cross the playe for the Dolphins in the sixth, with Rentas, Romero and Janyia Mendoza-Morgan collecting RBI. Speaking of Hutter, she, too, impressed on the mound, striking out a season-high nine batters in six innings.

Now in the win column, the Dolphins will look to keep the momentum in their favor when they face off against Yeshiva and St. Joe's Brooklyn next weekend to finish out their season.
