Kings Point, NY - While weather changed the location, the Dolphins were back in action on Wednesday when they traveled to Kings Point to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a "home" matchup. The Mariners got the best of the Dolphins over the 60 minutes of play, emerging victorious by the score of 21-5. The loss put CMSV at 2-9 on the year, including a 1-4 record against the Skyline Conference.
USMMA jumped out to an early advantage, as they scored six straight goals to open the game. It wasn't until there were three minutes left in the first quarter when CMSV would get on the board, as junior
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns continued his strong 2022 season, using his size advantage to score in a one on one opportunity. The junior's team-leading 15th goal made it a 6-1 game. Just minutes later, sophomore
Jacob Cochran used his speed to blaze by the Mariners defenders from the midfield, with his ninth goal cutting USMMA's lead to four.
The Mariners would then go on to score 10 consecutive goals, putting the game out of reach for the Dolphins. Before it was over, Cochran would add another goal while assisting on another off a shot from senior
Patrick Nagy. Classmate
Matthew Pincus would add a goal of his own, with Jean-Pharuns collecting the assist.
Junior goaltender
Sawyer Davis would go on to record 17 saves for his team, his ninth game with 15 or more stops. Freshman defender
Jake Luxoro impressed, leading CMSV in both ground balls (seven) and caused turnovers (three) while senior
Anthony Manna added four groundballs and a caused turnover to the stat sheet.
The next challenge for the Dolphins comes in the form of Farmingdale, who they'll challenge this coming Saturday.
