Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Dolphins Complete Sweep of Maccabees on Senior Day

Riverdale, NY- The CMSV men's volleyball team returned to their home court for senior day as they took on the Maccabees of Yeshiva University, Saturday afternoon. Christian Santiago, Miguel Losa, Danylo Szkafarowsky, and Angel Santana were among the group that were honored, and the Dolphins sent their seniors out with a bang as they swept the Maccabees in three sets.

The first set was a tight battle between the teams as they traded leads multiple times. The Dolphins were able to pull away from the Macs as they extended their lead to 15-10. CMSV used their momentum and took off from there as they defeated Yeshiva 25-16 in the first set.

The second set was all Dolphins as they came out with a lot of energy to take a 2-0 set lead. After being tied at two, the Dolphins went on a 9-1 run to take an 11-3 lead, forcing the Macs to call a timeout, but the Dolphins' momentum was too strong as they continued their solid play, jumping out to a 17-5 lead. The Maccabees tried to make a run themselves, but would not be enough to stop the overpowering Dolphins attack. CMSV won the second set, 25-13.

The Dolphins completed the sweep against Yeshiva in a close set. CMSV started off scoring the first five points of the set, but the Maccabees responded by going on a run of their own to cut CMSV's lead to 10-9. Yeshiva took the lead up to 15-13, but the Dolphin attack battled back. The teams traded points and tied at 18 before the Dolphin offense took a 23-20 lead, and ultimately defeated the Maccabees 25-20.

Sophomore Kyle Thompson led the Dolphins with 13 kills followed by juniors Kevin Erhand (8) and Samuel Martinez (6). Losa and junior Terence Strehle combined for 30 assists in the Dolphin win.

The Dolphins keep their playoff hopes alive as they look to continue their winning ways as they take on Sarah Lawrence College Tuesday evening.
