New London, CT - CMSV's softball team returned on the road for their fourth set of games to open the 2022 season, as they traveled to Connecticut to take on Albertus Magnus in a non-conference double header. The Dolphins struggled offensively over the course of two games, dropping the first game 9-1 and the second 8-0.
The Dolphins are 3-5 through eight games to start the year with conference play on the horizon.
Junior
Jocelyn Vega was the lone source of offense for CMSV on Friday evening. The Elizabeth, New Jersey native belted her second home run of the season to put the Dolphins on the scoreboard in game one. Senior
Abigail Laurendeau went 1-for-2 in game while while freshman
Kelly Murphy also reached base with a walk. Freshman outfielder
Sierra Romero impressed on game two with a two-hit performance in as many at-bats, bringing her average to .263 through eight games. Vega and senior
Arianna Rentas also registered hits in the second contest.
Junior
Katie Hutter went the distance for
Miguel Justiniano's Dolphins in the first game and allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs. Freshman
Lorna Alec got the start in game two and allowed three runs and three hits in two innings of work. Sophomore
Charlotte Kelly came in for relief and surrendered five runs on five hits.
Next up for CMSV is Montclair State University, who they'll face off against in a double header on Saturday afternoon.
