Dolphins Combine For 30 Runs In Route Over Lehman

Bronx, NY - After getting their first win earlier this week, the CMSV softball team looked to keep their winning ways on track on Friday against Lehman College. The Dolphins did just that, and dominated in the process, winning game one by the score of 20-1 and game two in a 10-0 shutout. The victories brought the Dolphins to an even .500 on the season.

The Dolphins were all over the basepaths in the five inning first contest, with the team totaling 14 hits, 17 RBI and eight walks while scoring in four of the five frames. Kaitlin Cirillo, Kelly Murphy and Liana Cabeza paced CMSV with three hits apiece, while Muprhy, Cabeza and Brennah Heck-Rice each collected three RBI, a game-best. Junior Katie Hutter took the mound for the Dolphins and rewarded head coach Miguel Justiniano with a fantastic performance. The junior pitched a complete game while allowing just one hit and seven strikeouts.

Game two resulted in similar fashion. The Vega sisters had an impressive showing for the Dolphins, with Jocelyn Vega going 3-for-3 with three RBI while Aimee Vega had two hits while driving in three runs of her own. Like Hutter, starter Lorna Alec was dominant. The freshman also pitched a complete game and gave up just one hit while striking out five along the way.

The Dolphins will look to keep the momentum going in their favor next week when they travel to Connecticut to take on Albertus Magnus.
