Dolphins Right The Ship Against Panthers As Playoffs Near

Box Score

Farmingdale, NY - The Dolphins were looking to right the ship on Saturday afternoon when they took a road trip to Long Island to take on the College of Old Westbury. Despite struggling to close games recently, CMSV did just that against the Panthers, winning an overtime thriller by the score of 87-81.

The victory improves the team's conference record of 6-6 thus far, good enough for a playoff spot if the regular season ended today.

The first half had its struggles for the Dolphins offensively, with the team shooting just 40% from the floor and 30% from three over the 20 minutes of action. But the Dolphins were able to stay within striking distance due to their efforts on the defensive end, as they not only caused 14 turnovers but also allowed the Panthers to make just 12 of 30 shots.

The Dolphins saw an uptick of offensive production in the second half, as juniors Dan Porcic and Aaron Darab and senior Kelvin Turner-Harris each knocked down three point attempts. The second of Porcic's threes came at an opportune time, as the Putnam, Connecticut native tied things up with seconds to go in the contest. The Dolphins overpowered Old Westbury in overtime to ensure the win.

Porcic had yet another standout performance for the Dolphins, scoring 24 to go along with seven rebounds, both team-bests. Senior Dorian Robinson had his second straight effective game for head coach James Mooney, as he dished out seven assists while scoring 17 points.

Darab tied with Robinson for 17 points of his own while sophomore Elijah McKenzie added 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Dolphins will look to pick up where they left off in a big conference matchup against St. Joe's Brooklyn this coming Wednesday in the Sharp Center.
