Dominant Offense And Pitching Combine For Sweep Over MCLA

Flemington, NJ - After a two week layoff, the Dolphins were back on the diamond, this time taking on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in a double header at Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey. CMSV fired on all cylinders throughout the double header, winning the first game by the score of 7-1 and following that up with an impressive 29-4 victory.

John Muller's one-two punch atop the starting rotation shut down the Trailblazers in impressive fashion. First for the Dolphins was Aidan Rice, who was looking to rebound from his struggles against Stevens Tech in the season opener. The junior standout did just that, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four. That performance was followed up by classmate Andrew Geiger, who blanked MCLA in the run column while generating seven strikeouts in five innings of his own. The bullpen, too, did its part, with Sean Kennedy, Connor Pietrowski and Humberto Vela specifically standing out during their outings.

The offense was able to match the pitching staff, both in terms of impressive numbers and sheer overmatching. The Dolphins collected 27 total hits over 16 innings of play, with team captain Matt DiNorcia leading the charge with six hits and seven RBI in 10 at-bats. Joey DiNorcia kept up with his brother in terms of production; he received the start in right field and rewarded his coach by hitting for the cycle in six at-bats. He, along with Kennedy and Jake Pierre, each rounded the bases for their first home runs of the season. Freshman Dom Porto combined for three hits and three runs scored over the pair of contests while longtime standouts Jake Blinstrub and Michael Grisanti aided the team's efforts in their wins.

The Dolphins will look for their winning ways to continue later this week when they play John Jay College on the road in a single game matchup on Thursday.
