Dolphins Take Rams To Overtime, Ultimately Fall In Skyline Showdown

Box Score Farmingdale, NY - The Dolphins were looking to make it two straight in conference matchups after dominating the St. Joseph's University Brooklyn Bears on Wednesday Night. This time, they went to battle with Farmingdale State - and despite taking the Rams to overtime, CMSV ended the contest on the losing end, dropping the game by the score of 85-79. It wasn't due to a lack of points, with both Dan Porcic and Joshua Cabezudo finishing the game with 20-plus points.

The Dolphins and Rams battled extremely close throughout the game, including a first half that saw neither side lead by more than nine points. That was the case when Farmingdale jumped out to a 19-11 edge with 11 minutes to go, but from there, the Dolphins did their best to battle back. CMSV made it a one point game over a two-minute span, where James Mooney saw Porcic score eight points to cut in the deficit. Senior guard Aaron Darab's three pointer with less than three minutes in the half made it 35-32 Dolphins, giving the team enough of a cushion to head into the locker room with the lead.

It was more of the same in the second half, with CMSV and Farmingdale trading leads and keeping things close. Joseph Carrier, Sean Goodwin and Jalen Lewis, all of whom came off the bench for the Dolphins, added nine combined points in the second half, helping get the game to overtime. CMSV had a chance to win the game in the waning seconds, but a strong defensive effort from the Rams proved to be enough to force an extra period. Despite their best efforts, the Dolphins struggled offensively in overtime, resulting in the loss.

Porcic rebounded extremely well after a stretch of games where he struggled to find his groove, leading the Dolphins with 23 points while shooting 50% from three to go along with five boards, three steals and an assist. Cabezudo had 22 points of his while contuining to be a consisntely strong rebounder with eight. Darab finished with 11 points on three of four shooting while Carrier six points, eight rebounds and an assist of the bench.

The Dolphins will take on Five Towns College next as they look to regain their winning form.
