Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent and Farmingdale State College returned to Marillac Field on Wednesday, with the pair of conferece powerhouses squaring off in the Skyline semifinal, with the winner going on to Saturday's championship matchup. The Rams got the better of the Dolphins this time around, winning by two goals to advance and take on the winner of Sarah Lawrence College and Manhattanville College.
CMSV ends their season with an overall record of 12-5, with 10 of those wins coming in conference action.
The Rams were quick to strike first, as striker Jazzmin Terrell scored her third goal of the 2022 campaign to put Farmingdale on top in the first three minutes of action. Both sides played a physical brand of soccer, with nine total fouls handed out over the first 45 minutes of action. The Dolphins would take just two shots in the first half, with only senior
Emily McCarthy's attempt reaching the Rams goalkeeper.
There was an uptick in scoring chances for CMSV in the second half, as
Stuart Dick's team took nine total shots. The Rams, however, turned away all shots faced, and put the cherry on top of the contest in the 74th minute when they scored their second goal of the contest. The game would end 2-0 in favor of Farmingdale.
The second consecutive standout season for the women's soccer program will be one to be remembered. Despite the outcome of the final game, the Dolphins have continued to build in the right direction. And with a number of key players returning to Riverdale next season, the Skyline Conference final is in reach.
