Dolphins Dominate Bears, Victorious In Second Straight Skyline Game

Purchase, NY - The cold and rainy weather didn't stand a chance to cool down the scorching CMSV men's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon, as the Dolphins dominated St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, en route to their third conference win of the season. The Dolphins, now 3-1-2 against the Skyline, have emerged victorious in consecutive games, with their last win coming this past Sunday against Old Westbury.

It was the Ian Lamas show in the first half of action, with the junior forward proving why he was a first team All-Skyline selection a year ago. As the Dolphins dominated the offensive possession early on, the Mamaroneck, New York native put his team on the board first when he intercepted a Bears pass near midfield, dribbled past four separate defenders and fired an absolute strike past the jumping St. Joe's goalkeeper to make it a 1-0 game. Less than 10 minutes later at the 22 minute mark, Lamas took a free kick opportunity from the left side of the field and buried the shot for his second goal of the contest.

The first half success for the Dolphins didn't stop there. Midfielder Alejandro Rodriguez came off the bench and added to the team's offensive success when he crashed the net and picked up a pass from junior Nicholas Guardino, with the goal being his first of 2022. Over 45 minutes of play, CMSV outshot the Bears 12-3, with freshman Dominic Algieri taking a team-high seven shots and nearly converting on multiple attempts.

The second half saw more of the same, with the offense continuing to pepper shots while the team's defense, led by Dennis Andino, Tyrone Malango and Justin Betancourt did a strong job at keeping the Bears offense at bay. Before it was all said and done, Lamas would get yet another free kick, and he would complete the hat trick when he attempted the shot from the top of the box and finished it bottom right.

Giovanni Garufi and Erick Pantoja would split the day in net, with only one goal getting past the duo in the waning seconds of the contest.

The Dolphins will look to keep the momentum in their favor this coming Saturday when they take on Farmingdale State.
