Brooklyn, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team was back in action on Wednesday when they traveled to Brooklyn to take on the St. Joseph's University Bears in a Skyline showdown. The Dolphins, fresh off a home loss at the hands of Sarah Lawrence College, were looking to jump back into the win column as the final week of the season approaches. Despite going toe-to-toe with the Bears, CMSV ultimately lost the contest in four sets, bringing their overall record to 3-13 this season.
The Dolphins and Bears battled closely over the four sets, with the first two only being decided by two points. The most impressive stint came in the second set - with the Dolphins down 20-8, they were able to rattle off impressive spurts, eventually leading to a 24-23 score. Once again it was
Melanieann Broderick leading the way in the kills department, with the junior hitter registering 16. Classmate
Elizabeth Flores wasn't far behind with 12 kills of her own while also adding 15 digs and six service aces.
Charlotte Martin continued to impress in her lone season with the Dolphins, as she reached career highs in both assists (23) and kills (four). Junior libero
Isabella Garcia ended the evening with 23 digs, giving her 263 on the season, good for fourth in the Skyline.
The Dolphins will get the weekend off before returning to action this coming Tuesday against Old Westbury.
