Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Win Seventh Straight In Game Over Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team remains arguably the hottest team in the conference, as they went on to cruise past Maritime College to a 5-0 road victory on Tuesday evening. The Dolphins, now 8-1 against Skyline opponents, rank third in the conference as playoffs near. If the standings remain, CMSV would host the first round of the postseason on Marillac Field.

It was yet another contest that saw the Dolphins both pepper the opposing goalkeeper while simultaneously shutting down the opposing offense. The Dolphins got on the board for the first time in the 26th minute, when Emily McCarthy put things in her own hands when she scored an unassisted goal off the inside of the left post. Just seconds later, CMSV would once again celebrate, as breakout freshman Victoria Gamarra converted her sixth goal of the season when she followed a rebound off a shot from Alicia Rodriguez to make it 2-0 Dolphins.

Stuart Dick's squad would get on the board once more before halftime. In the 33rd minute, senior Lilli Marin handled a ball from Amanda Controneo and scored left, good for her sixth goal in her final season with the program. As a whole, the Dolphins would outshoot the Privateers 17-2, with Riley Leedholm, Dana DeDominicis and Mazy Wright doing a tremendous job limiting Maritime's chances.

The second half was more of the same. As the Dolphins dominated the possession battle, they'd score two more times to put the game on ice. A pair of freshmen got things done in the waning minutes of the game, as Emily Legler scored her second collegiate goal while assisting on Arianna Morales' first of her career. Brooke Frierson received the start in net for CMSV and made three saves, good for her fifth shutout of the season.

The Dolphins will jump back into non-conference play this weekend when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Wilkes University.
