Box Score Farmingdale, NY - The Dolphins were back on the road in another Skyline Conference matchup on Monday evening, taking on Farmingdale State with the hopes of securing their seventh win of the year. CMSV did just that, as a strong fourth quarter secured the 67-51 victory.
With wins in their last two contests, the Dolphins sit at 5-3, good for fifth within the conference.
The first half was a battle, with the Dolphins trailing by two after the first quarter. Newcomer Kayla Hanley was a force on the offensive end, knocking down all three baskets, good for eight points in as many minutes. A strong second quarter from Amber Been, who shot 50% from the floor, helped tie things up going into halftime.
From there, it was all CMSV. The Dolphins combined for 45% shooting over the final 20 minutes of the game while also forcing the Rams to score just 18 total points.
Been secured her fourth game with 20 or more points, scoring 21 in 36 minutes. The junior also added seven rebounds, two assists and a steal. Senior leader Victoria Hanley had a second straight double-double with 18 points and 10 boards on seven of 12 shooting.
Junior Kira Villegas had a strong performance on the defensive end, recording five steals to go along with eight points and six rebounds. Melanieann Broderick came off the bench and added six points of her own, while Dez Brown collected eight rebounds.
Winners of two straight, the Dolphins will now set their sights on Purchase College. They'll take on the Panthers this coming Saturday at 12 PM.
