Dolphins Rebound From Game One Loss To Split With Old Westbury

Farmingdale, NY - The Dolphins were back on Long Island on Wednesday, this time facing off against Old Westbury. Both CMSV and the Panthers battled throughout the two game affair, with the teams splitting the double header. The Panthers took game one by the score of 8-6 and the Dolphins emerged victorious in game two by the score of 9-8.

After Old Westbury took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, CMSV tied things up in their half of the third. After Lakisha Camacho and Erin Patterson reached base, a single down the left field line by Alicia Blevins brought the score to 3-1. Katie Hutter followed suit with a single up the middle, driving home Patterson and Blevins to even the score.

The sides continued to battle, with the Panthers plating a run in both the fourth and fifth innings. Both Camacho and Aimee Vega collected RBI in the sixth. Despite tying the score once again, it was once again Old Westbury who were able to put runs on the board in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

The second game also saw the teams battle back and forth. This time, however, it was the Dolphins who opened things up, as Jocelyn Vega drove home Patterson in her first at-bat of the game in the first inning. The Panthers took the lead in the bottom half of the first, but CMSV was able to rattle off eight straight runs in three innings to eventual give them the advantage. Renee Hoerning, Blevins, Hutter, Arianna Rentas and both Vega sisters each did their part in adding to the score. Old Westbury battled valiantly but the Dolphins did enough to hold them off.

Patterson dominated throughout both games, as she collected six hits in nine at bats. Blevins also impressed with a perfect 4-for-4 contest in game one. Hutter and Jocelyn Vega also had multi-hit evenings. Charlotte Kelly registered a career-high eight strikeouts in the second contest.

The Dolphins return to Farmingdale over the weekend to play the Rams in their regular season finale. Stay tuned to CMSVAthletics.com for the action.
