Riverdale, NY - The CMSV men's lacrosse team faced off against Saint Joseph's College-Long Island in their home debut on Saturday, as they returned to Marillac Field in the first time in over a year. Although the Dolphins fought hard, they fell to the Golden Eagles by the score of 19-4.
The Eagles got out to an early lead over the Dolphins, but CMSV showed no quit. Juniors Patrick Nagy and Matthew Pincus provided some offense for the Dolphins. Nagy scored once in each quarter of the first half and Pincus scored one in the final seconds of the second quarter, as the Dolphins went into halftime trailing 10-3.
The Dolphins looked to tighten their defense as they didn't allow a goal for seven minutes in the second half. CMSV continued to fight, but were eventually overpowered as the Golden Eagles went on a 9-0 scoring run in the second half. That was until Nana Kofi-Agyekum took the defense on by himself and scored a goal with 42 seconds remaining in the game.
Nagy was the leading scorer for the Dolphins with two goals, while defenseman Anthony Manna paced the team with five ground balls. Defenseman Mackenzie Doyle caused three turnovers, good for a Dolphins best, while Sawyer Davis made 14 saves in his first collegiate start.
The Dolphins will look to regroup as they have a quick turnaround where they will face off against Mount Saint Mary's College on March 31.
