Patchogue, NY - The CMSV women's lacrosse team returned to the playing field for the first time in over a year and traveled to Long Island where they faced off against St. Joseph's College - Long Island. The Dolphins battled from the first whistle until the final horn but eventually fell to the Golden Eagles by the score of 15-8.
The Dolphins started off hot as they jumped out to a 4-2 lead over the Eagles in the first half following a hat trick from senior Morgan Pavlik and another tally from sophomore Colleen MacNeil. The Eagles were tought to put away early, as they rallied to score three goals in a row to take a one goal lead over the Dolphins, 5-4.Â
Junior Sophia Raccolin add another tally to the scoreboard for the Dolphins off of a beautiful assist from Ashley Teal to once again bring the deficit to one. The Dolphins would only trail the Eagles by two going into the halftime break.Â
CMSV went back and forth with St. Joe's LI as Raccolin added another goal to the stat sheet, while freshman Alyssa LaTorre collected the first goal of her collegiate career to keep the game interesting at 9-8. But the Eagle defense would hold the Dolphins scoreless for the remainder of the match, resulting in the loss.Â
Allyson Weakliem started her 31st game for the Dolphins and made four saves.Â
CMSV will look to regroup as they have play host to Mount Saint Mary College on April 1 in Riverdale. Â
