Kings Point, NY - The women's volleyball team returned to the Skyline Conference semifinals for fourth time in as many years, matching up against the United States Merchant Marine Academy in what has become a familiar playoff foe. The Dolphins battled valiantly throughout the contest, but the Mariners were too much, winning in straight sets to advance to the conference finals.
For the Dolphins, seniors
Rianna Rivera,
Samantha Schroeder and
Lindsay DeBoer combined for 13 of the team's 18 kills, while
Madison Gale did her best to set up her teammates with 15 assists.
While the end result wasn't what head coach
Courtney Bernstein and the Dolphins wanted, it marks an end to a terrific run for the senior class. Rianna, Schroeder, DeBoer, Gale,
Dez Brown,
Olivia Kane and
Sara Pocas were key components on three teams that made deep playoff runs, including a Skyline Conference Championship win in 2018. Their legacies will be remembered as a class who took the program to new heights and made it into a perennial Skyline Conference powerhouse.
The loss marks the end of the season for the Dolphins. They'll look to regroup and return to play in the fall.
