Men's Soccer Continues Winning Ways Over Sarah Lawrence

Yonkers, NY - The men's soccer team competed in local battle on Saturday evening, taking on the nearby Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference showdown. In what has been a theme all year long, the Dolphins continued their winning ways as they escaped the contest against the Gryphons the winners of a 2-1 game. The team's 11 overall wins this season is the most for the program in nearly a decade (2013).

It was yet another defensive battle for the Dolphins throughout the majority of the first half. Keeper Joel Luna and the back line of Luciano Cirelli, Fernando Guzman, Isaac Tamer and Tyrone Malango did a great job limiting Sarah Lawrence's offense to just five shots, with Luna collecting four saves.

With the first half nearing its completion, junior Juan Cardenas picked an opportune time to get his team on the board. The junior forward scored his second goal of the season in the 40th minute to put the Dolphins up by one going into halftime.

Just 11 minutes into the second half, it was freshman Lukas Cunha's turn to get on the board for the first goal of his young CMSV career. The Gyphons were able to strike back less than two minutes later, but the Dolphins defense once again did it's just in keeping Sarah Lawrence's offense quiet for the rest of the evening.

The Dolphins have one last test before the postseason in the form of Purchase College. The final regular season game will take place on Tuesday.
