Dolphins Get First Win Over Skyline Conference Rivals

Bronxville, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team was on the road on Wednesday evening, traveling to nearby Bronxville to take on Sarah Lawrence College. Despite the slow start to the 2020 season, the Dolphins were looking to right the ship at the perfect time, as Skyline Conference play will now be in full swing. They did just that, winning the tight battle in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24, 18-16).

As a team, the Dolphins led in nearly all major statistical categories, including points (62-50), kills (45-35), blocks (7-2) and assists (40-32). Senior Padelis Astrinidis had one of his best performances to date, collecting 13 kills, 19 digs and three blocks. Miguel Losa had an impressive performance in his own night when he added a career-high 37 assists to his stat line.

The freshmen tandem of Felix Paulino and Terence Strehle registered double digit kills (12, 10) and digs (17, 11) while classmate Samuel Martinez had seven kills of his own, as well as five total blocks. Danylo Szkafarowsky helped the team with four aces, a career-high.

With the monkey off their back, CMSV will look to keep up their winning ways when they compete in a Skyline Conference tri-match on Saturday, taking on New Jersey City University and the Gryphons.
