Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins’ Comeback Attempt Falls Short In Season Finale

Farmingdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team had a chance to enter the playoffs with a win over Farmingdale State in their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, a second half comeback fell short, resulting in a 91-82 loss.

The first half was a struggle for the Dolphins, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. CMSV shot just 30% from the floor, including going one for 11 from beyond the arc. At the same time, the Rams were able to convert half of their shot attempts to give the home team a 45-27 lead going into the locker rooms at halftime.

The Dolphins showed a ton of heart and fight over their last 20 minutes of the season. Despite falling behind by as much as 23 points, CMSV battled to the final whistle, as they cut the score to single digits before time expired. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late for the Dolphins.

Raiquis Harris finished his tremendous career in Riverdale in grand fashion. The senior scored a team-high 29 points, resulting in him becoming just the 16th player in program history to join the 1,000 points club. Sophomores Kelvin Turner-Harris and Kalos Evans came off the bench and did their best to keep their team in the game; Turner-Harris finished with 17 points on six of nine shooting while Evans had 15 of his own. Vinny Tavella led his team in both rebounds (seven) and steals (four) while Makai Johnson also swiped four steals.

James Mooney and the Dolphins will now have their sights set on the 2021 season. With a number of key contributors returning to the team, the sky is the limit for the men's basketball program.
