Brooklyn, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team hit the road on Thursday evening when they traveled to Brooklyn to take on the Bears of St. Joseph's College (5-7, 1-2 Skyline). The Dolphins were looking to get their second conference victory in four tries in the 2019-2020 season.
It was a tale of two halves for a Dolphins team that was playing in their ninth road contest of the season. Over the first 20 minutes of play, CMSV played like the better team. That was highlighted by an impressive 12-0 run mid-way through the half that saw the Dolphins hold the Bears scoreless for over six minutes of play. Their success on both ends of the floor put them in the lead going into the locker room at halftime.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the second half saw the Bears take over on both ends of the floor. The home team went on a 14-0 run of their own to give themselves a double-digit lead, one that they never looked back on. CMSV eventually dropped the game by the score of 66-55.
Sophomore
Kalos Evans led the way for the Dolphins in terms of points, scoring 13 while going five of seven from the charity stripe. Both
Mamadou Mariko and
Qwame Thompson also finished with double-digit points, with both registering 11 apiece. While
Raiquis Harris didn't have his typical scoring touch, he helped the Dolphins in nearly all other categories, as he paced the team in rebounds (nine), assists (five) and steals (five).
The Dolphins will now set their sights on Farmingdale State College (7-7, 3-2 Skyline) who come to town on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at the Sharp Center is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
