Box Score Riverdale, NY - The Women's Soccer team played their third straight home game this Saturday when they took on Lehman in non-conference action. CMSV was looking to improve to 2-0-1 on the season and that is just what they did defeating Lehman 3-0.
After putting a ton of pressure on Lehman through the duration of the first half they finally broke through when
Hannah Eschmann netted her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Kacey Brown. This would be the only time they would find the back of the net in the first half despite firing off 14 shots. On the other half of the field the Dolphins defense continued to play exceptional as they have all year long, holding Lehman to only two first half shots. The defense was led by
Lauren Vetoulis,
Alyssa Santeramo and
Kora-Lynn McCullough.
The Dolphins picked up right where they left off in the second half putting pressure on the Lehman defense,
Emily McCarthy would finally break through ripping one home from outside the box off the assist from
Grace Barry. CMSV would not let off the gas as
Cristina Britton would draw a foul in the box leading to a penalty kick.
Kacey Brown would step up to take the kick and bury it low and away. For the remainder of the half the pace would slow down and the match would end 3-0.
The Women continue to improve each time they step on the field. CMSV now sits at an overall record of 2-0-1. The team will now hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday when they take on New Jersey City University in Jersey City.
