Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Dolphins Avoid Knights' Comeback Bid

Riverdale, NY-  The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team had their Skyline Conference home opener on Monday night as they took on Mount Saint Mary. CMSV was looking to remain unbeaten in Skyline play and win their second straight game. The Dolphins did just that as they took down the Knights in four sets. (25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22)

CMSV came out of the gates ready to go as they dominated the first two sets of the night. The Dolphins would get contributions from all over the roster, registering 11 kills as a team in each set. Lindsay DeBoer continued her solid play as she registered four kills in the opening set and was a force at the net. DeBoer was not the only middle who would have a nice night out, as Dez Brown would control the net all night long.

Despite the hot start, Mount Saint Mary would rally back and come out swinging in the third set of the evening. The Knights jumped out to a 20-10 led and looked like they would walk to the third set victory, but the Dolphins would come back to life and tie things up at 23. But it was too little too late as the Knights would take the third set 25-23. Dropping the third set officially woke the Dolphins back up as they played lights out in set number four. CMSV would turn to last year's player of the year Tara Maloney and she would not disappoint. Maloney, who was playing well all night, turned it on in the fourth set and finished her night with 19 kills and 13 digs. Maloney propelled the Dolphins to the 25-23 win in the fourth and final set.

CMSV will have one day off before they get right back into conference play on Wednesday night back here at Peter Jay Sharp when they take on Old Westbury. CMSV will be looking to win their third straight and improve to 3-0 in Skyline Conference play.
