Record Day For The Dolphins At TCNJ Invitational

Ewing, NJ - The College of Mount Saint Vincent men's and women's track team traveled south to The College Of New Jersey's Ewing, New Jersey campus. Competing in their third meet of the season race experience and weeks of training came to fruition. In total, the 'Phins recorded nine season best performances; eight of which were CMSV records. Coach Gangemi was quoted saying, "each athletes has several races under their belt at this point, tactics and experience played a hand in the great performances today".

The day started of with the debut of the men's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Mark Mofus, Sheymel Davis, George Laing, and Julius Tumukunde. The team crossed the line in a time of :47.66, placing third on their section. Mofus continued his record breaking day by  shattering his previous personal best of :57.09, finishing his 400 race in a CMSV record time of :54.35.

Continuing the theme of personal best and CMSV records Andrew Carrasquillo completed the grueling 1500 meter / 800 meter double. Carrasquillo displayed his fitness and speed, resulting in CMSV records in both events. Carrasquillo has showed steady improvement in the early part of the season.

The women showed equal success in the relays by breaking the college 4x400 meter record by almost 16 seconds. Maiya Foster Daniels lead off with a blistering 1:05 leg, before handing off to senior Mairead Bromm. Bromm coming of a personal best performance in the 800 meters only hours earlier, ran a solid 1:10 for her 400 meter leg. Ailís Martin and Ariana Bolourchi completed the final two legs of the relay placing 4th in their section.

Earlier in day the women ran strong races in their respective events. Prior to leading of the 4x400 Foster Daniels ran a CMSV 800 meter record 2:39.02. Emma Riano made her debut in the open 400 running a CMSV record 1:10.38. Lauramae Cocchi waited hours for her turn to hit the track. Cocchi competed in her first 3000 meter race, crossing the line in a time of 11:46.26. Setting the CMSV record.

The Dolphins will return to action this weekend at the Queensborough Community College Relays. The squads depth and talent will be put to the test as Coach Gangemi will be fielding multiple relay teams. A few more spots on the record board will filled at the conclusion of next week's meet.
