Dolphins Excel at Skyline Championship

Farmingdale, NY - On Sunday April 28, the Men's and Women's Track squads traveled to Farmingdale State College to compete in the second ever Skyline Conference Outdoor Track Championship. The talented field consisted of follow Skyline institutions Mount Saint Mary College, USMMA, Farmingdale State and St. Joseph's College-Long Island. The day was highlighted by performances from freshman Catherine Jones, sophomore Maiya Foster Daniels and senior Lauramae Cocchi.
 
The Dolphins got on the board with a sixth place finish from Jones in the 100 meter hurdles. Jones cleared all ten hurdles in a time 18.67 seconds, establishing the CMSV record. Jones' day did not end there, she earned a silver medal in the 200 meter. Jones broke her own record in a time of 28.05.The other medalist for the 'Phins was sophomore standout Foster-Daniels. Forster-Daniels placed third in the 400 meters in a new CMSV record time of 1:06.57.
 
Foster-Daniels also lead off the women's 4x400 squad which also placed 3rd in a very competitive race. freshman Emma Raino and senior Mairead Bromm maintained the third place position, which was established by Foster-Daniels. Anchor leg Ariana Bolourchi held off a charging St. Joseph's College runner to finish in third place, setting a new school record in the process. Lauramae Cocchi capped off the scoring performances by placing fourth in the 5000 meters. Cocchi broke her own CMSV record with a time of 20:34.56.
 
The men's squad was highlighted by junior Brendan Ryan and the 4x400 meter relay team. Ryan, coming off a gritty performance in the 1500 meters, ran a CMSV record in the 800 later that day. Ryan crossed the line in a time of 2:17.79. The 1600 meter relay quartet of Sheymel Davis, Andrew Carrasquillo, Mark Mofus and Julius Tumukunde broke the four minute barrier for the first time this season. The 4x4 team ran a CMSV record 3:54.14.
 
Farmingdale State College were the winners of the day. Winning both the men's and women's team title.
 
The Dolphins are back in action this weekend at the Tom Farrell Classic on the St. John's University oval.
