CMSV Falls In Final Regular Season Matchup Against Rams

Farmingdale, NY - The Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Long Island on Tuesday night with their playoff hopes on the line. After a tight first half the Rams would pull away and come out with the 19-5 victory. With this loss the Dolphins would end their season with an overall record of 7-6 which makes them the first team to finish above the .500 mark since 2009.

Farmingdale came out swinging and scored the first five goals of the evening. Sophomore Caitlin Elia would stop the bleeding for the Dolphins as she netted her 27th goal of the year to cut the lead to 5-1. The Rams would get one back before a quick two run from CMSV which featured Elia's second goal of the game off an assist from Emma Dell'Aquila. Dell'Aquila would then take matters into her own hands and score an unassisted goal to cut the defecit to 6-3. Farmingdale would rattle off three more goals to take a 9-3 lead into the break. Defensively for the Dolphins freshmen Casey Brown stood out causing three turnovers against a very talented Farmingdale offense.

The Second half started out as back and fourth affair as the teams traded goals for the first four possessions of the half, the Dolphins two goals would come from freshman Sophia Raccolin and Sophomore Paulina Mandujano. Now with the score at 11-5 the Rams began to run away with it and never looked back. Farmingdale would go on an impressive 8-0 run to secure the 19-5 victory. Despite the loss Brown and Mandujano may have had their best defensive games to date as Brown finished with four caused turnovers and Mandujano would add three of her.

Although the Dolphins and their season with a loss the future for their squad is bright as they return their top six goal scorers and their standout goalie in Allyson Weakliem. These Dolphins along with head coach Erin Collins have turned this Women's Lacrosse program around and will to continue to build and bring the program to new heights next season.
