Riverdale, NY - After competing in a conference tri-match over the weekend, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team returned to action against Skyline competition on Tuesday evening when they played host to the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College. Despite playing strong against their opponents, the Dolphins weren't able to secure tonight's victory, as they lost to the Gryphons by the score of 3-1. CMSV is now 2-14 on the season.
The first set featured a tight affair between the two foes, with the final tally being 25-19 in favor of the Dolphins. Unfortunately, however, the Gryphons battled back and won three straight sets by the scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-18. While the second set was dominated by the visitors, CMSV battled in the final two sets despite the loss.
Brendan Ryan led the way with nine total kills and also added 15 digs and four aces. Sophomore
Christian Santiago had his best offensive game of his young career, registering three kills of his own.
Padelis Astrinidis added two kills, four aces and two assists with
Tim Donnelly collecting 10 assists and 15 digs.
The loss may sting but the Dolphins will have to get right back into game mode. They'll travel to Yeshiva University and will look for their first conference win of 2019 on April 3.
