Staten Island, NY - After splitting this past weekend with Mount Saint Mary in Skyline Conference action the Dolphins were back in the Diamond taking on non-conference opponent CSI. CMSV was looking to get to an overall .500 record on the season and that is just what they did with the 4-3 victory.
In the Battle of the Dolphins, CMSV would strike first as Freshmen Nick Saranczak would hit a solo home run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. The offense would continue to produce in the third inning as Anthony Nocero would drive in Jake Blinstrub to take a 2-0 lead. CSI would have an answer this time as they saw two runs cross the plate in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two. The Dolphins would get fantastic pitching the rest of the way from both Pedro Fortoso who was credited with the win and Tyler Reyes who earned the save. The great pitching would give the Dolphins opportunities to take the lead and that is just what they did as Blinstrub drove in Eric Zimmermann in the 6th inning and then drove in Saranczak in the eighth. With a 4-2 lead heading into the ninth, Fortoso would get one out and then give up a run, CMSV would now turn to Reyes who has been sensational out of the bullpen all season long for the final two outs and as he has done all year long he got the two outs and secured the win.Â
The Dolphins will be right back in non-conference action tomorrow as they travel to Purchase, NY to take on Manhattanville at 4PM. CMSV now sits at an overall record of 15-15.Â
