Dolphins Pick Up Second Conference Win Over Knights

Newburgh, NY - Despite playing their final game on their home field, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team was looking to take care of business on the road for the rest of the 2019 season. The Dolphins did just that on Saturday when they narrowly defeated Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary College by the score of 15-12 in an afternoon affair.

It was a tale of two halves for the rivals, as the Knights had the better of CMSV over the first 30 minutes of play. After Mount Saint Mary potted two goals within the first seven minutes of the game, Amy Cohen scored off a pass from Caitlin Elia to cut the oppoents' lead to one. The Knights would score two more goals before the Dolphins cut the deficit in half once more, this time from Elia, who scored her 19th goal of the season. While Mount Saint Mary scored seven in the first half, the Dolphins played as close as they could, as Cohen and Morgan Pavlik combined for three goals in the final 12 minutes before halftime.

From the start of the second half until the final whistle, the Dolphins offense turned it up to another level. As a whole, the team combined for 10 goals, outscoring the Knights by five to ensure the victory. Elia scored two more goals to complete a hat trick while Emma Dell'Aquila completed a hat trick of her own and Shannon Dalton scored her fifth of the year over the final 30 minutes. Dell'Aquila, Dalton and Paulina Mandujano all registered assists in that time frame as well. Kacey Brown impressed with four turnovers throughout the game while Pavlik led her team with nine draw controls and six ground balls. Allyson Weakliem made 17 saves, good for her second highest mark thus far.

The Dolphins, now 2-3 in conference play, will turn their attention to Sage College, who they'll take on April 15.
