Yonkers, NY - After two tough losses at the hands of SUNY Cobleskill and Mitchell College, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team looked to return to the win column when they played host to Morrisville State College of Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the Mustangs were too strong to overcome, as they defeated the home team by the score of 23-5.
The Dolphins set the tone early in the contest when junior midfielder Jarret McLean scored less than two minutes into the game in a man-up situation off a pass from
Anthony Pedatella. After Morrisville netted three straight goals within the span of five minutes,
Patrick Nagy joined the stat sheet when he potted his yet another goal, cutting the Mustangs lead to one after one quarter.
That was as close as CMSV would get throughout the duration of the game. The second quarter saw Morrisville pour in nine goals, including six straight to go into halftime. Nagy put in another goal within the first two minutes while Pedatella scored on a man advantage opportunity off a pass from
Matthew Pincus. The second half saw more dominance from the Mustangs, as they outscored the Dolphins 11-1 over the final 30 minutes of play. Nagy completed a hat trick with a goal in the fourth, bringing his team leading mark to 26 on the season. Despite the goals against him, goaltender
Christian Brody had another standout performance when he made 21 saves. That makes five straight games the junior has made at least 20 saves in game.
Jaiden Martinez paced the Dolphins with four ground balls.
CMSV will regroup, go back to the drawing board and prepare for their next matchup on April 2. On that date, the Dolphins will open up Skyline Conference play against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
