Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Struggles In Conference Tri-Match

Purchase, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team hit the road for their first Skyline Conference tri-match of 2019 on Saturday morning. While the Dolphins battled throughout, they ultimately dropped both games to Purchase College and St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn by the scores of 0-3 and 1-3, respectively.

In game one against the SJC Bears, the Dolphins worked hard to make it a contest, as they only lost one of the four sets by less than five points, including a 27-25 nail biter of a fourth set. Despite being the team's best defender by leading the Dolphins in digs, Brendan Ryan impressed on the offensive end against the Bears, collecting a career-high 17 kills in the first of two games. Sophomore Jose Estrella was right behind Ryan with 16 kills of his own while Tim Donnelly rounded out the top three with four. Padelis Astrinidis paced the Dolphins in both assists (32) and digs (20) while Dorian Robinson registered a career-high 17 digs.

While the game against the Bears was a back and forth affair, CMSV's matchup with Purchase wasn't as close. While the team hung in there while dropping the opening two sets, an injury forced the team to forfeit their final set, resulting in the loss. Estrella and Ryan combined for seven kills while Donnelly led the way with two service aces. Astrinidis and Estrella also paced the team with two blocks each.

The Dolphins, who are now 2-11 including 0-2 against conference competition, will take on Skyline foe Yeshiva University on March 27.
