Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team played host to Mount Saint Mary College in the first round of the Skyline Conference playoffs on Tuesday night at the Peter Jay Sharp Center, with the hopes that the Dolphins could replicate their regular season success against the Knights. CMSV did just that, as they won in three straight sets to advance to the semi-finals on Thursday night against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
The reigning Skyline Conference champions dominated from the first whistle onward, winning each set by the scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 25-15. Senior standout
Tara Maloney led all players with 17 kills on the evening with an attack percentage of .484 while sophomores
Samantha Schroeder and
Alexandra Madden combined for 11 apiece.
Madison Gale excelled on both ends of the court as she paced the Dolphins in both assists (28) and digs (18).
Olivia Kane impressed with three aces throughout the contest while
Rianna Rivera (five kills, two blocks),
Dez Brown (four kills) and
Alexandra Rio (11 digs, eight assists) each played a pivotal role in the victory.
The Dolphins lost to Kings Point by the score of 3-1 earlier this season but defeated the Mariners in the semi-finals a season ago. With the biggest game of the season on the horizon, CMSV will look to replicate their success from a season ago later this week.
