Riverdale, NY- The Mount Saint Vincent women's volleyball team was finally back on their home court taking on new Skyline Conference foe Manhattanville. CMSV was looking to defeat the Valiants and climb the conference leader boards in hopes of hosting the Skyline Conference Tournament. After three tightly contested sets the Dolphins fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 26-24).
All night long an extremely high level volleyball was on display at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Dolphins, who led late in each of the three sets, could not quite get over the hump to take a set from the Valiants. For the Dolphins, all of their hitters swung a positive percentage, but it was on the defensive end where the Dolphins were not on the top of their games. On the offensive end it was
Tara Maloney leading the way with 12 kills (.211%). Alex Madden chipped in with nine kills (.400%) and
Rianna Rivera added seven of her own (.412%). On the defensive side of the ball it was
Alexandra Rio making plays for the Dolphins with 13 digs on the evening. The Dolphins will hope to see the Valiant's again come playoff time and see a different outcome.
CMSV will be right back in action at the Peter Jay Sharp center this Saturday for a non-conference tri-match featuring Pratt and Oneonta. The Dolphins now sit at an overall record of 13-9 and a Skyline Conference record of 7-2.
