Box Score Bronx, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team was looking for their first Skyline Conference win on Tuesday evening when they took a short road trip to the Bronx in a matchup against Maritime College. That win will have to come on another day, as the Dolphins fell to the Privateers by the score of 3-1.
Despite a back and forth tussle early on in the first half, Maritime struck first, as the home team buried a goal in the 33rd minute. Despite going into halftime down just one goal, Maritime stepped things up and put two more shots past goaltender
Padelis Astrinidis, giving their team a three goal edge. Before things could conclude in the Bronx, junior
Derrick Cordova did his best to put the Dolphins back into the game, as he scored his first goal of 2019 to cut the lead to two. Unfortunately for CMSV, that's where things would end, resulting in an 0-3 record among conference competition.
Despite the loss, it wasn't for a lack of effort. The Dolphins outshot the Privateers, including eight shots ito Maritime's three in the second half. Cordova,
Sory Konate,
Khari Greene and
Mauricio Ricalde had a shot on goal each.
The Dolphins will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday when they play host to Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary College. The contest is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
