CMSV was finally back on their home court for the first time this year. But the game did not go as planned, as the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's Long Island were feeling it from deep and it hurt the Dolphins as CMSV dropped its third consecutive Skyline Conference game by a score of 80-67.
Â
The Eagles were feeling it from deep all day long as they shot an impressive 45% from beyond the arc. It started early as they knocked down two early threes and jumped out to a 14-4 lead only three minutes into the game. CMSV answered with a quick four points and cut the lead to six but this is as close as the Dolphins would get all afternoon. The Dolphins would go on several runs spearheaded by the guard play of junior Raiqius Harris and freshmen
Kalos Evans but it seemed every time things got close a big three ball from St. Joseph's would fall. The Eagles extended their lead all the way to 23 but a 6-0 run for CMSV to close the half kept the Dolphins hopes alive.
The second half started the same way the first half ended. Evans had a quick 5-0 run all by himself and closed the gap to just 12. The Eagles would answer with a three ball but the Dolphins kept on coming and would eventually get the score to single digits at 52-43 after a Harris three ball and a
Claudio Nmezi layup. This was as close as CMSV would come in the second half. It was the same story throughout the rest of the second half, as the teams traded baskets all the way up until the final buzzer. Â CMSV was led by Harris who had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. His backcourt partner Evans was the only other Dolphin in double digits with 13.
The men will get right back after it in the Peter Jay Sharp Center as they host another Skyline Conference foe on Tuesday Night. They will be taking on the Rams from Farmingdale State and will be looking to snap their current four game losing streak. CMSV now sits at a record of 4-8 overall and 3-4 in the Skyline Conference.
