Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Dolphins Drop Home Opener Against Wilkes

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Men's Volleyball team was back on their home court for the first time in this 2019 season. The men, who are currently sitting at a record of 0-2, took on Wilkes University in a non-conference matchup and were looking for their first victory of this young season.

Set #1
The Colonels came out on fire in the opening set and playing some great volleyball, as they opened up a huge 19-3 lead. CMSV started to play like themselves as they went on a 10-2 run to cut the lead 21-13. Wilkes would eventually settle back down and win the set despite the Dolphins threatening. The Dolphins big run was sparked by a ton of energy from junior leader Brendan Ryan and sophomore Jose Estrella.

Set #2
After a solid showing in the second half of set one, the Dolphins continued their good play for a solid portion of set two. The score was back and forth up until the mid-way point. Estrella continued his strong play and freshmen Dorian Robinson came up with a monster block that got the Dolphins energy all the way up. Despite the good play, Wilkes had an answer and eventually pulled away for 25-12 set victory.

Set #3
The Dolphins came out ready to play in the third set and jumped out to a 5-1 lead and were looking for their first set victory of the season.  Wilkes would eventually battle back and tie the score at 10. Wilkes went on a 8-1 run to take an 18-11 lead. The Colonels never looked back as they went on to win the third set 25-17.

Whats Next?
The Dolphins have a long break until their next contest where they will host Hunter College on February 12 right back at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The men now sit a record of 0-3 on the season.
