Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Dolphins Struggle In Season Debut

New York, N.Y. - The men's volleyball team got their season underway this weekend with a tri-match that featured the Dolphins, John Jay College and Eastern Nazarene. The Dolphins dropped both contests and are now 0-2 to start the season.

The men led for a majority of the first set of 2019, thanks to strong play by Jose Estrella, who ended the first match of the day with 11 kills. With the score knotted at 15-15, Eastern Nazarene started to play inspired volleyball and went on to win the first set 25-21. The second set was certainly one to forget for the Dolphins, as they had trouble with serving and receiving, which resulted in five aces in the set for ENC. CMSV would drop the set 25-12. The final set was much like the first one. It was a tightly contested affair, which had the Lions up 22-17. A late Dolphins run got the score to 24-23 but they could not complete the comeback and dropped the set and match, 25-23.

CMSV's next matchup of the day was against an extremely talented John Jay squad.  This match did not go as CMSV would have liked, as they dropped it in straight sets. The Dolphins fell in set one, 25-9, set number two, 25-15, and set number three, 25-11. A few positives to take away from this contest was freshmen Dorian Robinson registered his first career kill, with Tim Donnelly also generating his first career kill.
