Men's Basketball Advances To Semi Finals In Win Over Panthers

Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - After a successful 15-10 regular season record and a conference record of 13-7, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team entered the Skyline Playoffs as the third seed, good for a first-round home matchup against Old Westbury. Unlike the last time out, the Dolphins used home court to their advantage, as they went out to rout the Panthers by the score of 89-64.

From the first half until the second, it was all Dolphins. Between both halves, CMSV shot an impressive 45% from both the floor and from beyond the arc. At the same time, their defense was tough all game long, as they forced the Panthers to turn the ball over 18 times while allowing them to have a field goal percentage of 35%. In what has been a theme all year long, senior Ammad Alkhulaidi showed off in the first playoff game of the season, as he scored a team-high 21 points to go along with nine boards. Sophomore Raiquis Harris filled up the stat sheet in his own right, as he scored 17 points while dishing out six assists and pulling down seven rebounds. Jason Barrera finished the game in double figures (10 points) while the senior duo of Jose Maestre (nine points, five rebounds, four assists) and Andrew Curiel (nine rebounds, four assists) aided in the victory.

With the win, the Dolphins advance to the semifinals where they will travel to Purcahse College on Thursday to take on the Panthers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
