Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - When the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team hosted Farmingdale State College on Tuesday, the task was tall. But the hope was the Dolphins would find their winning ways before the playoffs begin on February 20. Unfortunately, however, the Rams proved to be too strong, as they went on to defeat CMSV by the score of 65-56. Despite the loss, the Dolphins remain above .500 in both their overall record (11-10) and conference record (9-8).
The veteran trio of
Kelly Oliver,
Kelly Nola and
Kristen Merrell did their part, as they combined for 31 points, with Merrell also securing 10 rebounds and five assists. But it was freshman
Aria Rheams who stood out on her own, as the freshman scored a team-high 15 points while pulling down 10 boards of her own, good for her eleventh game with double-digit rebounds. As a whole, however, the offense wasn't enough, as they committed 17 total turnovers while allowing the Rams to convert on 46% of their field goal attempts.
While there is another game in the loss column, the Dolphins' playoff hopes are still alive. Currently positioned as the fifth seed, the team will look to correct their ways in one final regular season bout against Old Westbury on February 17.
