Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - With a tough loss against Mount Saint Mary in the rearview mirror, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball program looked to get back on track at home against the St. Joseph's College - Long Island Golden Eagles on Thursday at the Sharp Center. The team just that, as they put on an impressive offensive performance en route to a 90-64 win. The victory improved the Dolphins' record to 8-9 on the season while winning six of 13 games against Skyline competition. They're currently positioned as the fifth seed in the conference playoff standings.
It was an offensive onslaught for CMSV, as they converted on 51% of their shots from quarters one through four. Junior
Kelly Oliver paced all scorers with 23 points, with senior
Kelly Nola not too far behind with 20 of her own. Oliver also added 11 assists to her stat line. Freshman
Aria Rheams posted her ninth game of the year with double-digit rebounds (10) while her classmate
Leah Pinili came off the bench and scored 10 points. Senior
Kristen Merrell also had a strong performance, as she posted 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
The team's defense also played an integral part in the victory, as they allowed the Golden Eagles to shoot just 37% from the floor while causing 16 turnovers.
The Dolphins will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy for another conference tilt.
